Fit for the Future: Are schools dropping the ball on physical fitness?
Regular physical activity plays a vital role in children’s development, boosting their physical health, mental well-being, and academic success. Yet last year, only 39 per cent of Canadian children and youth met the recommendation of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day.
The challenges are significant, from shrinking teacher training programs in physical education and limited access to facilities to shifts in health behaviour shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic. But solutions are within reach.
Join us on Wednesday, December 3 for a free public panel moderated by Donnovan Bennett from the CBC (formerly Sportsnet), along with leading experts discussing the decline in physical education and activity among youth in Canada and the steps needed to create lasting change.
