The University of Toronto offers the Distinguished Professor Award to a select number of faculty with highly distinguished accomplishments.

Over the past decade, international students have navigated a complex landscape shaped by neoliberal policies, says Emilda Thavaratnam, a PhD student in leadership and higher education. As Canada continues to welcome international students, it’s essential to uphold their rights and recognize their resiliency.

Through their creative efforts to improve education, this year’s six alumni winners – Justin Patrick, Maria Rogers, Shijing Xu, John Dias, Cindy Sinclair and Erin Finley – have been recognized for their excellence and leadership in teaching, research and advocacy.

Dr. Linda Iwenofu, a clinical child psychologist and assistant professor in applied psychology and human development, shares why recognizing perseverance, growth and character in school awards can help all students feel seen and supported.

OISE welcomes five new faculty of talented researchers, educators and colleagues including Dr. Brendan Andrade, Dr. Lydia Cao, Angela Easby, Dr. Lore/tta LeMaster, and Dr. Vidya Shah.

OISE wishes to congratulate Ashleigh Molloy who has received the Order of Canada — one of the country’s highest civilian honours. A global expert on developmental disabilities, the OISE alum has dedicated his life to promoting inclusive education.
